Series 3 | Lesson 10
Creators | Ben McKenzie & Tamala Shelton
Getting lost in the pages of a book is wonderful. But there are lots of ways we can enjoy stories - reading them is just one way! In this lesson, Ben and Tamala will explain - just what is Audio Fiction?
This lesson explores the world of audio fiction, and introduces students to some alternate forms of storytelling and reading. They will explore different kinds of audio stories, from podcasts to audiobooks and radio plays, and will be encouraged to use their library to discover and engage with different story forms.
Resources include lesson plans for middle and upper primary students, each with their own activities and supporting resources.
Ben McKenzie is a performer, writer, game designer and nerd for all seasons.
He teaches creative writing at 100 Story Building, and as part of Collarts’ comedy degree, and runs workshops in podcasting, crowdfunding, and games including Dungeons & Dragons and boardgames.
His favourite dinosaur is Stegosaurus, and his favourite element is helium.
Tamala Shelton has been narrating audio fiction for over seven years, and has worked on a range of projects from television series to films, documentaries, ads, books, games and even to virtual reality stories.
When she’s not acting or narrating, you can find her lying by a river, reading whatever book has taken her hostage this time.
