Emily Gale has worked as a children’s book editor, a book buyer for Readings, a reader for a literary agent, and a writer-in-residence in a high school library.
Her books include ‘The Other Side of Summer’ and its companion novel ‘I Am Out with Lanterns’, the ‘Eliza Boom Diaries’, ‘Steal My Sunshine’ and ‘Girl, Aloud’, as well as a narrative non-fiction for children about ornithologist Gisela Kaplan, and middle-grade collaboration with friend and fellow author Nova Weetman, ‘Elsewhere Girls’.
Her novels have been shortlisted for the Ethel Turner Prize, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, the WA Young People’s Literature Award, and the Aurealis Award. ‘Elsewhere Girls’ was a CBCA Notable in 2022. Her latest middle-grade novel is ‘The Goodbye Year’.
